I just recevied the Fedex tracking number for my Newegg order. I checked to see what day it will arrive and find that Fedex now gives a time for their delivery estimates.

They claim that my package will be delivered at a suspiciously precise time. One may assume that this would give a delta of 30 minutes on the delivery time. My first thought is this will be an exercise in the difference between precision and accuracy.

Update:

I checked again the next day (May 3) I see the package is already on a truck:

I’m not complaining that my stuff will be here two days early. It is amusing that the delivery estimate still shows a very precise time on Friday.

Sure enough. At 2:48 the package arrives. Only off by 2 days, 2 hours, and 42 minutes.
