Maker Faire 2006 + Pics
Today Vik, Richard and I wandered over to Maker Faire to check out a wonderful collection of cool geeky stuff and cool geeky people.
In addition to running into a bunch of friends we had a great time checking out the projects. Of course the coolest projects are those that allow the attendees to partipate. A popular one was some folks at Quaketronics that built an inexpensive flash trigger for high speed photography. We all got to take turns blowing up a balloon on camera.
Mine was a double-layer baloon that Richard put together. It didn’t come out that well because the pencil I used wasn’t very sharp and the the inner baloon was being deformed rather than blowing up at the same time as the outer one. Vik’s turned out a bit better.
Maker Faire is truly a wonderful event that gives one hope for humanity. It’s a geeky, carnival-like atmosphere filled with tons of smart and creative people. It’s good to know you guys (and gals!) are out there.
I took a bunch of photos that are up at http://img.stimpy.net/pics/MakerFaire2006/
